In our program, you can collaborate with world-class faculty on research projects investigating the development, treatment and prevention of kidney diseases and conditions.
Our fellows report that our program furnishes them with solid knowledge of experimental design, approaches used in laboratory and epidemiology research, data analysis and standard methods of clinical trial design.
Our fellowship boasts protected time for research: as a trainee in our program, the research you conduct will take place during our research elective.
The elective enables our faculty members — who publish in leading academic journals — to help you learn sound methodology in designing and performing research studies and clinical trials.
Faculty in our division welcome fellows into their labs to embark on meaningful studies. Our physicians and scientists have research focuses in a variety of areas, including:
Outside of your research, you can stay engaged in scholarly activity when you participate in our conferences and rounds.
Fellows in our program have access to the medical libraries housed within our clinical training sites; we encourage you to take advantage of these valuable resources.
We’ll also encourage you to become a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the Renal Physicians Association. These organizations provide you with additional educational opportunities, connect you to a network of experienced specialists and help you stay updated on progress in the field.
We encourage you to publish your work in peer-reviewed journals. During the research elective, your mentor will guide you as you embark on the process of writing an abstract, delivering oral or poster presentations and preparing for publication.
We will provide you with support to ensure that you are equipped to attend national meetings.
