Buffalo General Medical Center

Located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Buffalo General Medical Center offers a wide spectrum of clinical inpatient and outpatient treatment programs.

This 500-bed acute care center, located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, is one of the region’s major hospitals.

Much of the patient base comes from the local urban area. The hospital also serves as a tertiary referral center, with a significant patient population drawn from Western New York’s eight counties.

Patients present with the entire range of disease states in internal medicine, general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery, with many critically ill cases.

Training

Buffalo General Medical Center (BGMC) is one of our main clinical training sites. 

Here, you’ll strengthen a variety of skills and:

  • increase your experience in the BGMC emergency room 
  • enhance your understanding of knee and hip arthroplasty; expand your knowledge of preoperative assessment, postoperative care and postoperative follow-up; and benefit from valuable experience in the operating room
  • deepen your understanding of hand and wrist disorders while you clinically and surgically treat patients
  • work with adults and children who have bone and soft tissue tumors of the musculoskeletal system
  • gain experience with patients who have degenerative, infectious and neoplastic conditions of the spine

  • lower extremity joint replacement and reconstruction
  • orthopaedic oncology
  • orthopaedic surgery
