The Pediatric Consultation Liaison (CL) rotation will allow the intern to gain experience working within our interdisciplinary C/L team providing assessment, intervention, and C/L services on inpatient medical floors at Oishei Children's Hospital.
This internship rotation focuses on providing training in pediatric health psychology that involves interfacing with patients, their families, and close collaboration with other medical disciplines to enhance care for medically admitted patients. On this rotation, the intern will participate in interdisciplinary rounds, provide consultation to interdisciplinary treatment teams, assess for mental health concerns and/or harm to self or others, and provide time-limited, focused education and interventions supporting medical treatment adherence and childhood psychological disorders (e.g, eating disorders, anxiety, chronic pain, functional neurologic disorders, GI-related disorders). The CL Psychology services also provide ongoing interventions to patients and their families who may be experiencing difficulty with coping with a new diagnosis or a prolonged hospitalization, as well as help to connect families to mental health resources to support their treatment following discharge.
