Electives

We encourage our residents to design electives to pursue individual interests or gain greater experience with specialty rotations.

Our faculty have helped residents develop electives in such areas as addiction psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry and more specialized fields, including:

  • junior attending
  • neuropsychological testing
  • sleep disorders
  • community psychiatry
  • forensic psychiatry
  • partial hospitalization
  • geriatric psychiatry
  • hospice and palliative care
  • education and teaching
  • evidence-based psychiatry

You can also use electives to work on inpatient rotations with an attending physician or psychiatrist of your choice, conduct independent research or explore the interface between multiple fields—conducting neuropsychological testing in forensic settings or studying sleep disorders in adolescents, for example.
