MD-MBA Dual Degree Program

The MD-MBA degree requires five years of education. Medical students will complete the first two phases of the medical school curriculum. The fourth year will take place within the School of Management.  The fifth year will consist of a medical school curriculum in the fall semester and completion of the MBA program in the spring semester. 

The MBA portion of the dual degree program can only be taken after completion of Phase 2 (third year) of medical school. Per the Jacobs School Academic Policy on dual degrees, MD students must obtain approval from a Dean withing the Office of Student and Academic Affairs prior to applying to the MPH program.

Students apply separately to both schools. Applications do not have to be submitted concurrently. Applicants should review admissions requirements. Applicants to the MD/MBA program are not required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the GRE provided that they have previously taken the MCAT. If you are an early assurance medical student, you will be required to take the GMAT or GRE. Personal advisement is available at the Graduate Programs Office in 203 Alfiero Center, North Campus.

  • Required participation in two (M2 and M3 year) Interprofessional Education (IPE) forums. Grade for Core Topics (M3) is dependent upon successful completion of all IPE requirements.

Spring Semester (M2)

  • Clinical Practice of Medicine 2
  • Neuroscience and Behavior 2
  • Endocrine, Reproductive Systems and Life Cycle
  • USMLE Step 1 Dedicated Study

THIRD YEAR
