Autism Diagnostic Clinic

You will attend the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo’s Autism Center Diagnostic Clinic at least twice to perform evaluations on children referred to the clinic with a licensed psychologist specializing in autism.

You will increase your familiarity with the standardized diagnostic evaluation process for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by observing standardized clinical assessments of children in regard to social functioning, communication and other domains.

You’ll participate in a multidisciplinary evaluation process to establish whether a child meets clinical criteria for being on the autism spectrum.

Child and adolescent psychiatrists are often the primary physicians entrusted with caring for children on the spectrum.

Combined with clinical experiences in the Developmental Disabilities Clinic, this rotation will improve your ability to recognize, assess and treat ASD.
