Geriatrics

You’ll learn the geriatrician’s approach to diagnosing, evaluating and treating conditions seen in older patients.

Our geriatrics rotation builds upon your prior experience with elderly patients and provides both an academic and a clinical focus to outpatient geriatrics.

Supervised by a UB geriatrics specialist, you’ll care for patients in outpatient and inpatient settings. You’ll become proficient administering the Folstein mini mental state exam and assessing your patients’ functional capacity and nutritional status.

You’ll participate in journal clubs and clinical case presentations, and you’ll attend interdisciplinary team meetings with physicians, family, midlevel providers and allied health personnel.
