Evidence-Based Medicine Journal Club

As you progress through our journal club meetings, you’ll develop learning skills for searching and critically appraising scientific literature.

First, you’ll generate a case vignette that you will be researching in an effort to identify the best evidence to answer the clinical question. The next week, you and your fellow trainees will meet with teaching faculty and sometimes a research librarian to search the literature and come to a consensus on an article that best addresses the clinical question. At the next meeting, you’ll lead a discussion focused on critiquing the article and considering how the findings inform answering the original question.

Throughout this process, you can expect to better understand the strengths and limitations of evidence-based approaches. Further, our meetings enable you to build skills that you’ll use throughout your career.
