Honors Pharmacology is offered to second-year, second semester medical students to increase the student’s understanding of the pharmacological basis for the therapeutic use of drugs and thus enhance their clinical problem-solving skills. This course requires students to integrate and apply the basic science information obtained in the preceding three semesters. Medical practitioners use the Socratic Method to discuss the scientific basis for clinical decision making in the use of therapeutic agents for various disorders. Accordingly, students are required both to attend all classes in-person and to come to class having already reviewed the relevant background basic sciences material.
