Neurology

Working in outpatient and inpatient settings, you’ll learn how to recognize the most common primary headaches and manage a variety of neurological disorders.

This rotation helps you comfortably diagnose and treat patients with tension headaches, cluster headaches, migraines, TMJ and vertigo.

You’ll take complete headache histories and explain how to avoid headache triggers to your patients. You’ll also learn to recognize conditions that require emergent neurologic referral.

Part of your rotation will take place at Dent Neurological Institute, one of the region’s most comprehensive neurologic practices.

Techniques Learned

You’ll become competent performing:

  • cranial nerve exams
  • fundoscopic exams
  • neurologic exam

You’ll also learn indications for, and how to perform:

  • head CTs
  • MRI/MRA
  • nerve conduction studies
  • therapeutic trials
  • carotid Doppler evaluations
  • echocardiographic evaluations
