Allergy/Immunology
This elective trains you to effectively manage allergy, asthma and immunology patients in the primary care setting.
During our allergy/immunology elective, you’ll:
- diagnose, treat and refer patients of all ages with immunologic deficiencies in a cost-effective manner
- differentiate adult asthma from other pulmonary disorders
- interact with relevant specialists
You’ll learn how to use pulmonary function testing to manage patients, and understand the factors necessary to set up office-based spirometry.
You’ll become familiar with desensitization therapy, understanding its initiation, duration and maintenance.
Conditions Seen
You’ll diagnose and treat patients with:
- asthma (adult and pediatric)
- chronic sinusitis
- cutaneous and systemic allergic reactions
- allergic drug reactions
