Nephrology

This combined inpatient-outpatient experience gives you an in-depth understanding of diseases of the kidneys.

You’ll gain exposure to the pathophysiology, pathology, natural history and management of a number of renal conditions.

You’ll learn about renal pharmacology, including the effects of renal insufficiency on pharmacokinetics and the clearance of common drugs, and the effects of various drugs and therapeutic procedures on the kidneys.

You’ll learn when to refer your outpatients to a nephrologist; in the hospital, you’ll conduct nephrology consultations and review them with the nephrologist.

  • disorders in the regulation of fluid, electrolyte and acid-base homeostasis
